    Imperial Cities and Sahara Desert Trip 9Days

    Day 1: Meet you in Casablanca airport and transfer to the Hotel

    Arrival at Casablanca Mohammed V airport. Welcome and assistance,Transfer To the Hotel.

    Day 2: Casablanca- Rabat- Volubilis – Meknes- Fez.

    After a breakfast in the hotel we drive to the capital of the country Rabat to see the beautiful yard of the royal palace .And Challah a lovely spot to watch the roman ruins and the remains of Merinid tombs 14th century. We will see the unfinished mosque of tower Hassan  and the mausoleum of  Mohammed V. Not to miss its hidden beautiful garden and a view over Abi-Rigrege river which was a prison of certain ships in the history of the Berber pirates started at 16thC  and ended at 18thC.Then we drive to Meknis to explore the old city with its  the most  beautiful gates like Bab-Mansour(1732) an impressive work with marble pillars. To visit the mausoleum of Moulay Ismael; the sultan who created the city in 18th century. And to visit HeriSouani used to receive over 12000 horses and tons of barley and wheat  stored in granaries with so many wells as water tanks. In an open vast lands and cereal fields we stop in Volubilis. It is the best-preserved roman ruins in Morocco. A guided tour inside the roman site will take  you back to the myths of Rom  by the stunning mosaic , streets, columns and baths . Transfer to Fez .

    Day3 :Fes Sightseeing

    After  breakfast, you  will have a guided visit at 9:00 Am in the medina of Fez. To begin with  the southern tower and the fortress of 16th century face to face with northern one, a panoramic view over the medieval city. We will visit an enjoyable cooperative of pottery. It will enhance your knowledge about the making of Moroccan mosaic “zellige” and the blue pottery of Fez. A true labyrinthine old city of 8th century. You will travel in time back to the medieval period of the city where people still work in small narrow streets, several tiny stalls of all kinds of traditional crafts, and donkeys loaded with supplies are going up and down in the streets of the medina. You will feel no sense of direction and time halts for a while. The medina of Fez is rich of its Islamic monuments: the fascinating old mosques, the University of El-Karaouiyine  and its libraries. All These elements made Fez the intellectual and cultural capital of the country. To finish the day there is an optional to see Jewish quarter including the Aben Danan Synagogue. Overnight in Riad.

    Day4: Fes – Merzouga. Camel ride in Erg Chebbi dunes and night in a camp

    After breakfast We will start our day from the Riad in Fes then drive southwards to Ifrane and Azrou by the Middle Atlas mountains. On the way we will stop at cedar forest to see the Barbarian Ape in their natural habitat. Traveling through the Tizi Ntalghamt pass to Midelt and along the magnificent Ziz Gorges carved through volcanic rock, you’ll see views of the Middle-Atlas plateau, noticing how the scenery changes to reveal hints of the desert as you approach the city Errachidia. After lunch, we’ll continue our journey through the Ziz valley Erfoud, Rissani and Merzouga. After a glass of mint tea, We will leave our luggage in a room then take the camels to a Berber camp in the middle of Erg Chebbi Sad Dunes. 20 km long and 5 km wide it is also reputed as the highest sand dunes in North Africa. It is a unique and diverse environment. The camel trek takes about 1hr 30 min from the hotel to the camp where we continue the spirit of the nomadic Berber lifestyle. There we setup 3 Berber tents with additional restaurant and kitchen with the dunes naturally providing basic facilities. The tents are well equipped and we provide mattresses, blankets, and cushions. After dinner we gather round the fire and enjoy the desert night perhaps with traditional Berber drums.

     Day5: Merzouga – Toudgha Gorges – Dades Valley

    The camel man will wake you up early in the morning to watch what well may be the best sunrise of your life. Afterwards, you’ll peacefully camel-trek back to your hotel appreciating the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes – changing with the light as the day progresses. After breakfast and shower, you’ll leave for Tinghir and Todra gorges – the highest, narrowest gorges in Morocco.  before arriving at Dades Valley for dinner and accommodation.

    Day 6: Dades Valley –Ouarzazate – Ait ben Haddou Kasbah – Marrakech

    After breakfast in the hotel we’ll drive through the Dades Valley towards Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate. The route through Dades Valley is the way of the thousand Kasbahs – providing numerous opportunities to take some of your best photographic shots of the trip. Then the roses valley and Skoura village. Continue to Ouarzazat, “the Hollywood of Africa”. Lunch is at the famous Ait Ben Haddou kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco. After touring this UNESCO matrimonial historical site, our journey will continue through the majestic Tizi ‘n’ tichka pass (2260m) over the High Atlas Mountains,. We will have time to stop and enjoy impressive views and visit the argan oil cooperative. We will arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon.

     

    Day7: Marrakech Sightseeing

    After a breakfast we will start our tour with a local guide by visiting the outside walls of the red city , la Nouvelle Ville named Guéliz. There is a nice lovely garden that you will admire, the famous Jardin de Majorelle. Besides, there is an old Menara garden of 12th century which is always full of local people. The next step will be inside the ramparts of Marrakech in which there are many interesting historical sites in the medina. Koutoubia mosque 12th century that represents the glory and depth history of the city. You will discover the royal necropolis of the   Saadians 17th century, the beautiful Bahia palace 19th century and the famous souks of Marrakech. You will be amazed of how many different stalls, colors, smells and goods in the souks. It is a great place for shopping some gifts for yourselves and for your beloved ones. It is nice to have a cup of mint-tea in one of the terraces in order to end up your journey in the red city, offering a great view over the magical square JamaeElfana that you always will remember!!! Overnight in the Riad

     

    Day8: Free Day in Marrakech.

    During this day you will have the chance if you like to join the cooking class to learn how to cook a Moroocan dish, or just an easy and relaxing day.

     Day 9: Transfer to Mohamed V Airport.

    Depends on your flight’s time in Casablanca you can visit the exterior of the Hassan II Great Mosque, before to drop you off at the Airport.
